DSCN0051 * We visited a music store that made Thai instruments. These were quality instruments and this was off the track for tourists. This is a xylophone type instrument called a Ranard Ek * 2592 x 1944 * (832KB)

DSCN0052 * A few other instruments -- on the stand is a Khawng Mong or gong. The instrument in front of that is a Saw U, a 2 string bowed instrument with the head made from a coconut shell. * 2592 x 1944 * (911KB)

DSCN0053 * This instrument is Ivory and is very old (Ivory can't be used anymore...). It's called a Saw Sam Sai -- a bowed instrument with a somewhat triangular body and one spiked leg. The body is from a coconut shell. I purchased a Pi here, but don't have a picture. It's a double reed instrument * 2592 x 1944 * (1.06MB)
